Honeypot

A trap channel that catches spam bots and hacked accounts. Anyone who posts in it is removed automatically.

Off by default. Turn it on in /honeypot.

How to use it

Quick setup

  1. Run /honeypot and press 1-Click Setup.
  2. Dexel creates a #honeypot channel, pins a warning in it, and turns the trap on.
  3. Anyone who isn't an admin and posts there is softbanned: banned and unbanned right away, which deletes their messages from the last 24 hours.

Use your own channel or action

  1. Run /honeypot and press Settings.
  2. Pick the trap channel and what should happen (softban, ban, kick, or a 1 hour timeout).
  3. Press Enable Trap, then Deploy / Refresh Warning Card.

See who got caught

  1. Set up Logs. Each catch posts a card there with the user, their account age, and what they sent.

Commands

/honeypot
Honeypot Manage Server

Opens the honeypot panel with the status, trap channel, action and catch count. It warns you if Dexel is missing permissions. Only you can use it.

On the panel
  • Honeypot: ON / OFF: Turns the trap on or off.
  • 1-Click Setup: Creates the trap channel, pins the warning, and turns it on.
  • Settings: Opens the settings page:
    • Select a Trap Channel: The channel that acts as the trap.
    • Choose Moderation Action: Softban (recommended), Permanent Ban, Kick, Timeout (1 hour), or Disabled.
    • Enable / Disable Trap: Turns the trap on or off.
    • Deploy / Refresh Warning Card: Posts and pins the warning in the trap channel, or updates it.
    • Customize Templates: Edit the warning card text and the DM sent to caught users. Reset Defaults restores them.
    • Advanced Settings: Turn the DM on or off, and send a one-time invite back (for softban and kick) so hacked members can return. Add {{reinvite:link}} to the DM text for the invite to show.

Admins and the server owner are never punished. Their message is just deleted.
